Diversity that tastes good

Whether fluffy curd dumplings, spicy cabbage rolls, or aromatic jollof rice—each of the 23 recipes comes from a salesperson who shares their favorite culinary dishes and the personal stories behind them. The Apropos recipe column is curated by Alexandra Embacher, who has been collecting recipes, cooking them, and profiling the people behind them every month since 2022. “I enjoy immersing myself in the culinary world of street newspaper vendors with each recipe – experiencing their memories, their culture, and their love of cooking and eating,” explains Embacher. “For me, the Apropos cookbook is a collection of all these stories, a culinary stroll through kitchens near and far. Each recipe tells the story of people who have touched me with their stories.”

Cookbook with social added value

The book project was made possible by a donation from the Good Council for Redistribution, financed from the assets of millionaire heiress Marlene Engelhorn. “The donation makes it much easier for us to launch projects such as the cookbook than before,” says Apropos editor-in-chief Michaela Gründler.

In addition to classic and international recipes, readers will also find tips for vegan variations, practical kitchen tricks, and even a little cooking quiz in the book. This makes “Apropos: Favorite Recipes!” not only a treat for the palate, but also a gift with social added value—especially in the cold season.

Our conclusion

This cookbook tastes twice as good—because it supports people in difficult life situations and at the same time makes you want to cook the recipes. True to the motto: Buy. Cook. Do good.

Experiential dining redefined

Why formats such as PALAZZO “Better Together” are among the most sought-after culinary and gift experiences

Today, experiential dining is one of the strongest drivers of modern hospitality – emotional, sensual, and unforgettable. Formats such as Toni Mörwald’s PALAZZO in Vienna show how perfectly cuisine, culture, and staging can merge and why spending time together has become the most valuable luxury. “Better Together” exemplifies a trend that is shaping the industry and booming as a gift idea, especially at Christmas: enjoyment, entertainment, and shared amazement in an evening full of magic.

The year in which communication remained human

Review of 2025

In terms of communication, 2025 was a year between “wow” and “ouch.” Between artificial intelligence, genuine empathy, and a whole lot of misunderstandings. Talking has never been so easy – and understanding so difficult. In this humorous review, communications expert Stefan Häseli takes a closer look: How did people communicate, which trends are casting their shadows ahead, what has developed in which direction…

Book tip: Efficiently lazy

Do less, achieve more – this book provides the mental clarity and structure to do so

“Effizient faul” by Uwe Seebacher is aimed at anyone who is under constant pressure – whether in the hospitality industry, in everyday agency life, or in management. Instead of classic self-optimization, Seebacher focuses on strategies that enable real efficiency.

The content is based on over 30 years of research and consulting practice – including for international companies and institutions. Particularly relevant are the concrete tools for decision optimization and energy distribution.

Another plus point is the transfer to everyday working life – this is not a theoretical work, but a practical guide to a new, mindful form of success.
